Maya Viewport Navigation Lag

Ok, so as the title states, Im having a lot of issues with viewport lag in maya. When I do a fresh restart of my PC and begin modeling its very smooth. However after modeling for a while, its like a switch is flicked where navigating becomes very slow. Its like there is a 1-2 secold delay whenever I zoom, rotate, move in the viewport. The strange thing is that the mouse wheel zoom has no lag, its only when I hold alt to navigate. Even if I close maya and re open a fresh scene the problem will persist and I am forced to restart my PC again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue before?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi!

This looks like a problem with your system.
1. Make sure you use a proper 3D graphic card for Maya.
2. Update graphic card driver.
3. Try different Viewport modes (in Preferences).

Please check Maya with OS Tools if the first instance of Maya is really closed before you open a new one.

If yes, it's very likely a problem with your OS or GPU driver.

For further help please post your systems specs.

Having good hardware makes no difference with Maya. It still is what it is.

Hi!

"Having good hardware makes no difference with Maya."

Of course it does, but it's not only the hardware, sometimes even more important are the drivers made for the hardware and they are not done by Autodesk. Maya is optimized for (and relies) on professional hardware. For everyone who is doing professional work with Maya it's recommended to use a professional workstation graphic card from NVIDIA or ATI and not a gaming card.

I think this is the usual fake 3d mafia....no sense to have a lag problem in the viewport in a so diffused software considering that a big % of the user does know that quadro are useless with maya...this fake story should end one day...

and you should consider that maya supports is a joke...most of the time looks like those problems are new to developers..i wonder how they don't test the hardware that in fact everyone uses...this is a bit disrispectfull to those artists who put their life in this..
