Maya scene empty

Hey so i had some weird issues with cameras not focusing on objects so I restarted the scene in hopes that it would fix itself but instead the scene opens up empty and with nothing in the outliner, but the scene still has the same file size? I had not saved any backup and i fear that a lot of time animating has just been for nothing... I used a couple of references if that could have anything to do with it?

I'm using maya 2018.

I am a student at Animation Mentor and I am on my last week of polish. For some reason when I reopened my shot, it is empty. I lost my animation progress for the last 4 weeks and was wondering if there was a way to recover it. I have a feeling it is corrupt much like the people from this page but I'm not skilled enough to read text. Could you please educate me on what I could do. I am scared to lose all my progress that I have made on that shot. please help and thank you for your time

I don't have any errors here and the file seems to be OK, there are also keyed animation in the scene, but without the Reference file I can't check the animation.

Hi!

You only can edit .ma files manually, this does not work with .mb files.

Hi, I have a similar problem (opened my file and it's all empty, Outliner included but the size of the file is way too big for an empty scene) so I tried to open my scene in the text editor but it's completely empty. So is there some other solution ?
