Maya Indie

Just wanted to say thank you Autodesk for adding this pricing tier. I was in the process of moving my workflow over to Blender but now I can continue using Arnold and Xgen!  I hope Autodesk keep this tier for awhile and not a limited time.

If you're not making money from Maya, and you're using it to learn you can continue using the education version. I think the indie version is a fair price if you're planning to use it for freelance jobs.

Also even though i dont make a profit i would not mind even buying the Maya indie price. the problem is its not even available in the country i live in.

hmm I think those stipulations have always been there but I wasn't required to show proof. I haven't gone through the process recently so I'm not sure what the procedure is now.

As for Indie not being available in all regions is certainly a problem. I think most would not have a problem with the cost, the rep mentioned a while ago that it was being rolled out to everyone eventually but it seems to be taking forever!

Hi @Anonymous .

I am not sure i understand your point. If your working on your own projects as a hobby then you qualify for Indie as you would not be using it to for commercial production. as an artist, if you go work on a commercial project that is generating revenues for a company don't you want to be paid? It's kind of the same for us.

Hi, since Indie is only currently available via the e-store it is available anywhere you can purchase from an Autodesk estore. our stores are listed here https://www.autodesk.com/site-selector. Note we also have a general EU euro store that serves other EU countries not on the list as well as Singapore in Asia so the list is a bit broader than listed here.

Thanks Maurice, I hadn't seen the new Maya Indie page until I googled it - glad to see it's available everywhere now 🙂

It's still hard to find, why isn't it available as an option when you click 'Buy' on the store?
