Maya Hangs on Sequencer Play button

I opened an older scene in Maya 2020 (from a year ago) that I was working on in 2019 for quite a while.  It is a scene with a big set and 15 or so shots set up in the sequencer.  It worked fine back when I was working on it and now when I hit play in the sequencer it hangs Maya indefinitely.  I can scrub the sequencer timeslider without any problem and get realtime playback of the sequence, but as soon as I hit play it hangs Maya.  This is actually the first time I have tried using the sequencer in 2020.

Hi @matto.schmidt

Thanks for posting! Are you finding that this crash also happens with new scenes, or just the specific file from 2019? Have you tried importing the file instead of opening it?

Whats your graphics card? Are the drivers up to date?

If this crash is tied to just your file, I would love to do some internal testing 🙂 If you would prefer to send me a download link in a pm rather than posting to this thread that would be great as well.

Hi Jordan,

My Graphics card is quite old (K400), and I have not updated the drivers in awhile.  I will try that.  I am not getting the same problem in new scenes.  I was versioning the scene, so I tried older versions, but I encountered the same problem.

I am not sure I can share the scene for legal reasons, but it is possible as the assets are all generic assets.

Sounds good @matto.schmidt! Definitely keep us posted 🙂

Another resource that may be helpful: Certified Hardware for Maya (graphics cards that have been tested and approved by our developers). Any cards that aren't on this list may result in inconsistent performance.

Sorry, I have not had time to test the scene.  I did update my drivers.  I will try it and see.  I am having similar issues with texture heavy scenes in the PR release as well.
