Maya FBX Export Error : UnSupported Maps(1)

Hi,

keep getting error on every single object that i am trying to export. its just basic simple mesh nothing complicated. Automatic UV generated (Maya2016) . is there any specific settings?

Warning: Unsupported map(s).(1)

The plug-in does not support the following maps and will not export them. To learn how to convert them so they export correctly, see Edit > Convert to File Texture in the Maya documentation.

defaultPolygonTexture

thanks

Edit > Convert to File Texture (Maya Software) > in the Hypershade did the trick! but i am still confused what exactly it does. see the difference before and after applying .

This "Edit" option in Hypershade (Windows > Rendering Editors > Hypershade).

Non of the suggestions here worked completely but...
I fixed it by doing an extra step.

  1. In maya go to Windows > Rendering Editors > Hypershade
  2. Then in the window that just opened, Edit > Convert to File Texture (Maya Software)
  3. Then select any object with the "defaultPolygonShader" Material and replace it with another material (Select object> right click> Assign new matterial /or/ Assign existing material)

and boom it works
