Maya - Fatal error (Attempting to save...)

Hi team,

Hoping to get some help with Maya as I had it crash while working on a scene and now when I went to open it back up I keep getting a fatal error which says 'Attempting to save in .... Temp folder'.

I’ve tried deleting Maya and installing Maya 2019, tried opening Maya 2017. I updated my drivers and even renamed the temporary folder naming convention and I can’t troubleshoot the issue. I’ve looked up a few forums online and tried what they’ve recommended and haven’t had any luck.

Is anyone encountered this issue and can provide any options to fix it?

This worked for me:

Locate the prefs folder and rename it to prefsOld.

Hi, yes,  I did this and it worked:

1. C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\Maya\<version>\

Note: If copy/pasting the path from above, edit USERNAME (custom username for the computer/account) and VERSION (version of the software in use) as appropriate​​.​​
 

1. Locate the prefs folder and rename it to prefsOld.
2. Restart Maya. If prompted to, select the option to Create Default Preferences.

Hi everyone. After you fix the "Maya - Fatal error (Attempting to save...)" with any of the solutions that are in this forum, do you were able to recover the files you been working? or, you had to do it again?

I had the same problem(maya crash when closing session), and doing this solves it

MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1

but if you disable OpenCl won't that be a problem if you wright plugins using OpenCl?

Hi, I posted the solution like 2 years ago I think. I don’t know if it will help you but or if you already try it.

Already tried it. The thing is that I can create new scenes without a problem. After I restart the PC the fatal error occurs.

I already tried: 

1. Your Solution from above.

2. Copy Text from a YouTube Video about the fatal Error into the Maya.env. 

3. Deleted Maya 2022, installed Maya 2020.

4. Deleting the Maya Documents Path.

Nothing from these worked for me. 
The Scene opens but I get the fatal error after 2Seconds.

try this. open the maya environment file in editor found in documents/maya/2022.

copy this line and test one by one depending on the issue:

MAYA_DISABLE_CIP=1

MAYA_DISABLE_CER = 1

MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL = 1

dont forget to save.

A MASH corrupted my Scene btw. 
Was able to delete the MASH Plug-In manually and import my model into a new scene.

Is fixed now.
