Hi, my problem is that when I download Maya (2018) it works just fine, however, the next day, when I try to open it, it just won't initialize. I've tried everything but I can't fin the issue nor do I know how to fix this. Anybody has any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

What are the hardware specs of your machine?

Steps to find your pc specs can be found here!

Are all of your drivers up to date?

Steps to update your drivers can be found here!

Finally, have you tried deleting your settings/preferences?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I haven't been able to fix it yet.

These are the hardware specs of my computer:

Processor: Intel Core i5-6400
RAM: 8 GB
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950A

All the drivers are updated and I've already tried deleting the preferences but it only works the first time after installation. If I close the program and restart it only a blank window appears (labeled as "output window")

Any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous

Hmm ok.

Can you try going to Documents->Maya->2018->Maya.env and add this line to it:

MAYA_OPENCL_IGNORE_DRIVER_VERSION=1

Then save the document and try to launch Maya.

If that doesn't work, you may want to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Maya.

Hi, I tried what you said but it didn't work.

The problem is that after a clean unistall/reinstall Maya works fine as long as I keep it open, but when I quit the application and try to restart it Maya only opens a blank window

I have been using Maya with a student license in this computer for a year without any problems until last month

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous

Have you tried running the program as an administrator?

Also, if you download an older version of Maya like 2017 does that show any issues?

Hello,
Yes, I tried running Maya as an administrator but it didn't help, Maya opens the first time but after closing it, it doesn't restart.
I haven't tried downloading an older version of Maya simply because my University uses the 2018 version so I can't use older versions.
Anything else I could try?

Hi @Anonymous

Have there been any updates to your machine lately like windows updates?

If so can you try rolling back those updates and see if Maya still works?

Also, does this happen on your universitys computers as well or only your personal machine?

Hi, I finally found the solution!!

The problem was related to corrupted Windows registry keys as explained in the Autocad forum and the solution was to remove those keys using CCleaner:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/autocad-2016-stuck-at-quot-checking-license-qu...

I followed the instructions of that message and now Maya works

Thank you for the suggestions
