Maya 2020 'Errors have occurred while reading this scene that may result in data loss'

I have been animating a model in Maya 2020 for an assignment, using Windows OS, however after having an issue with my license renewal not syncing with my Autodesk account, I had to redownload Maya.

Since then, when opening this assignment file, my model and its polygons do not appear at all, and the animation and audio have also both disappeared.

I'm aware this is very likely because the file was saved in an older version of Maya, and after updating it when redownloading, the file isn't transferring. I've been looking at similar posts in this forum to try and find a solution but no suggestions seem to be working. The file is an ASCII file, and I have tried importing it to a new scene instead of opening it.

I'm very much a novice with Maya, and therefore am quite lost. Would there be any way to recover my file and continue working on it?

Hi!

This file is corrupted (incomplete).

There is no way to recover the missing content.

Please start again from the last saved iteration of this scene.

To prevent data loss like this:
1. Do incremental saves (as often as suitable) and from time to time save or export in an additional format (like FBX or OBJ).
2. Delete history if not needed anymore (on individual or all objects).
3. Create backups.
