F key not allowing rotation about selected geometry

For the last 20 years, after selecting a piece of geometry in Maya, then hitting the F key allowed me to then easily change the camera about that piece of selected geometry. Now, after selecting the geometry and hitting the F key, once I try to rotate about the selected geometry, the view losses the center viewing of the aforementioned geometry.

I have tried to update the Preferences>Settings>Cameras>View Fit>Fit Factor to "1" or "0.95", and nothing helps.

Has anyone else experienced this, and was able to remedy it? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

FitFactor is defining the distance of the camera from the selection center, make it <1.0 to see more "surroundings".

As for the missing centerpoint, have you tried to reset the camera from the Bookmarks menu? Imx, longer use of camera causes transform issues, especially if camera is rotated with RotateTool.. gimbal locking, I suppose.

Also, it might be related to the scene size, and somehow related to these cameraShape params:

CopyTab and see how it behaves upon various selection cases.
