Maya 2017 and 2018 System Requirement

Hi!

After having taken part of the information about system requirements for using the 2018 version of Maya I would need to know if there is any kind of computer available which already includes all of this required prestanda or if one have to put together a hardware system like this of ones own?

I would be happy to get hold of a laptop with this standard for about $1500.

Is that possible?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

This can be a bit tough to answer because there's a lot of laptops that can easily handle Maya Smiley Tongue

While what hardware you want can vary depending on what you plan to do, here's a general list of solid hardware specs to look for in a machine.

Hardware List:

  • Current gen i5 or i7 cpu
  • 8gb or more of RAM
  • Dedicated GPU with 2gb or more of VRAM

Also if it helps, I personally use this HP Omen for my personal work and it runs Maya well!

I hope this helps and let me know if you need any more information!

Uhm...yes. 🙂

Actually I have a whole row of questions about "today´s" Maya, but I´m starting with the equipment-matters so far.

I followed the link you posted with the laptop-ad, and found it was a HP which made me glad since I´ve had a HP-laptop (not for gaming though) the last six years. It has been reliable and that´s why I would like to get another HP while purchasing a new one.

Exactly the one you´ve got (and for the same price!) is not available in a store near me I´m afraid, but I searched for a similar one in a local webstore and got the following hit-list:

https://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorer_och_tillbehor/barbara_datorer/gaming/?filter_text=&filter_pr...

Do you beleive anyone of those would correspond to the hardware required for a Maya 2018 installation...?

Regards

Hi @Anonymous

The HP and Pavillion should run Maya ok but any of the three HP Omen models shown in the list will run Maya very well!

At this point it depends on what price you're looking for because I did a quick conversion from kr to usd and the Omen is much more expensive on that site!

I paid about 6438.32KR ($800 usd) for my HP Omen. I would recommend checking some other sites that deliver to your area/country to make sure you get a good deal!

I noticed too, that there is quite a difference between the laptop you´ve got and the ones in the stores here. Though, by all of the information you´ve given me, I guess any kind of the HP Omen is recommendable for Maya 2018? To begin with I need to get the proper pieces of hardware, and after that I´ll be back to discuss purchasing, downloading and installation of the very Maya-program, how to get started on it etc. Thank you for all your support so far. 😄 Regards Jonna
