Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Hmm this is unusual. When you get a chance, can you answer a few questions for me?

  • Do you have a texture applied already to the mesh?

  • What are you using for a material shader?

  • Are you on Update 4 for 2017? If not can you update to it and see if that helps?

Please let me know if anything changes!

Hi @Anonymous

I don't have access to vRay so I'm curious if that may be causing the issue.

When you get a chance, can you please try a standard Maya shader and see if the issue still occurs?

Let me know if anything changes!

I have the same problem here, and I can't find a solution. PLEASE HELP!

Here goes the message: // Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2020/scripts/others/art3dPaintCallback.mel line 2052: No paintable surfaces found. Have you set their shape nodes to be visible?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Thomas, I don't think so. But if that would be the case, where/how could I remove it?

Add a uv map under menu UV.

Try auto UV then you should be able to paint it

Just apply a lambert to a sphere polygon and you will see the dropdown box say colour it works

Sure, it works with any other mesh (sphere, plane, box, etc). But for some reason, it doesn't work anymore with the original sculpted mesh that I previously created.

Actually, I simply applied a new lambert to the mesh that I originally created (as you suggested for the sphere), and it perfectly worked. I still don't know why the mesh lost the first map I painted on it. But fortunately, this is smoothly running now. Thanks a lot for your kind support. Cheers!
