MASH Network random node issues:

I have one mash network for a set of trees and I want to create another network for another set of trees but when I go to add the random node to the second network it attaches tot he first network and controls those trees.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi @J450NP13

Does this happen if you make a new basic scene with some cubes and mash networks?

A quick test you can try is simply unloading then reloading the MASH plugin and then open the trees scene and try it again.

Please let me know if anything changes!

Nothing fixes it. Not sure what’s going on. I’ll have to do some testing after I’m finished with this project.

Hi! I was not able to reproduce this here too. A scene-file would be helpful. If it's not scene-specific, please try a reset of your preferences. Also what Maya (update) version do you use?

@mspeer I can't share this scene. Confidential. It's only this scene though...it works as it should every other time I've used it.

Hi @J450NP13

When you get a chance, since the file is confidential or under NDA please send it to me in a private message instead of posting it here.

I created a new network for each different instance...which is probably the way it was suppose to work...I thought I could have multiple instances in one network.

Sorry, forgot to post my solution.

Think you can do that now! By adding them to the mash_instancer

I was trying to add a Random Node to second MASH network and no matter what I did, the new Random Node would be added to the first MASH network.

In the end I fixed this issue by copying everything in my scene to a fresh new scene then remade my MASH nodes & Instances, and it worked. May of had something in the background that was causing the issue...?

If you copy everything from one scene to another you do get the issue that everything copied in will have a 'pasted__' suffix. This can be fixed by finding and replacing everything labelled 'pasted__' with a '$'

Like this

Just make sure to remove the 'pasted__' suffix in your materials too!

I had to also use a different object to create the new network, I couldn't use the same object that I used in the first network.

I'm still having this problem when I add multiple mash networks to the same scene. Different objects. etc.

The Issue can be resolved using the Node Editor. It seems that the node is being added with connection to the other Mash network.
