MASH Mesh moving with animated object

Hello everyone! I am trying to set up an animated object with a MASH network connected to the surface via mesh. It is an octopus covered in instanced cubes (sugar), a Trolli gummy octopus candy. I need to animate the octopus, however when I move any part, all the MASH objects move along the entire mesh. For example, if I move an arm, all the cubes move positions on the entire surface, looking like the sugar is moving. I would like to animate the arms while all the cubes remain where they currently are, essentially sticking to the surface. Would anyone be able to explain how to do this? I have tried changing the geometry type to objects and baking using Bake Instancer to objects under utilities, getting the same result. (My system crashed so I can't provide a screenshot now but I can if needed). Thank you.

Also, I am using Maya 2018.6

Hi!

Try an other "Method" in the Distribute node, or

animate cubes afterwards by adding animation to the ReproMesh.
