Magic Track Pad 2 & Mac Desktop or MacBook Pro

My trackpad built into on my MacBook Pro accepts gesture input like it should. When I have my trackpad Magic 2 connected to my laptop, the cursor only zooms. I do not have any depressions on the the trackpad. Then when I connect my Magic trackpad to my desktop, I have the opposite issue. It constantly stays in tumble view. I am just gliding like I would to move my mouse around the screen. Is there a way I can prevent that from doing that? Or is maya only a three button mouse set-up? I really am used to gestures on my trackpad so would like to keep them. I like the trackpad option for my desktop unit.

I have attached a screenshot of settings per the autodesk article referenced below.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Generally it is a best practice to use a mouse and/or tablet pen that has 3 button functionality to avoid issues like this.

However for your issue there are commands 'Option+Command+Drag' that should allow you to pan or zoom instead of being stuck in tumble.

While I don't have a Magic Track Pad to test with, I found this video that will hopefully provide some assistance!

Let me know if it helps you out at all!

Hi!

I had seen that youtube video as well. It didn't work, either. I had commented on his video too. Your Command+Option+Drag helps for my built in trackpad on my MAC laptop so that is incredibly useful!! I did dig out my three button mouse. That works good. Bummer though for the external Magic Track Pad 2. As it really doesn't seem compatible. I still think it has potential, as gestures would be a cool way to interact with the program. I will un-bury out my Wacom tablet to see if that may have a more fluid feel for me.

Glad the hot key command helped!

It is a shame that the tablet seems to have some issues with Maya however I can say personally I use a Wacom tablet with Maya and while it takes a bit of getting used to it works exactly how it should :)!
