Is there a way to unbind Mouse button 4 and 5

I use mouse 4 and 5 for push to talk to talk to others and I would like to know if there is a way to unbind them from use in Maya 2018. Currently it seems both are bound to a drag and select function.

Hi!

This is dependent on your mouse-driver and not Maya. If you can make application specific settings, then yes, otherwise no.

Edit:

If the mouse buttons are used for special key combinations you might be able to deactivate these Hotkeys in Maya Hotkey Editor.

Upon further investigation, mouse 4 and 5 are both doing the exact same thing as the left mouse button. Would you have any idea on where to look to unbind them as the hotkey editor seems to deal exclusively with keyboard bindings. Keep in mind Maya is the program that is doing this, all other programs running at the same time treat mouse 4 and 5 as separate button presses.

Edit: I was curious and it appears that Max doesn't do the same thing with the mouse buttons. so it seems to be a maya exclusive thing.

Sorry for resurrecting an old topic but I found a solution that works very well for me so I thought id share if anyone else found this posting.

There is a program called "x mouse button control" that intercepts button presses before they get to a desired program. So i can use my mouse button 4 as a push to talk on my voice client while useing Maya and maya does not see the mouse button as being used.

Here is there website https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm , maybe it will die in a few years but this is the only solution I have found.
