XGen issue (Failed to open file/ No collection were imported)

Hi

I am working on a cat fur and everything was going smooth until I exported patches for batch rendering for final render. Now I have this problem where Xgen cannot find my Cat Fur collection. Capture.JPG

Although I still have the collection and description and fur is visible on the viewport, it fails to render on Arnold Render View.

It also seem that my collection is still under the right project directory.

I also made sure the file path was set correctly and also set another file path to the same directory.

Yet it fails to render and I get the same error. I'm I missing something? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Are you trying to batch render of a render farm or locally? There have been issues in the past similar to this but it has been an issue with a render farm.

Also, can you please try using Render Sequence instead of Batch render to see if the same error occurs?

Please let me know if anything changes!

Thank you for your reply. After restarting my pc, the issue with rendering fur no longer exists when I do a normal render and in render sequence. However I am not able to get the furs render using batch render. I have exported patch for batch render, it seems to have created .abc files for all collection within my scene folder. I have also setup my xgen setting for arnold/batch render.

I am happy with rendering with render sequence for the time being, but I belive batch render gives a faster render since it wont be rendering with maya open. Can you confirm this?

All the best.

Hi!

"batch render gives a faster render".

No, but you would have a bit more free RAM available,  cause Maya can be closed.
