I cannot find an illegally named node...

Does anyone know how to find an illegally named node?

To troubleshoot, I literally deleted every object in scene, deleted all materials except default one, deleted all layers, deleted all shapes and morphs, everything.

In hypergraph there is nothing but the four standard cameras...and it still says I have an illegally named node "polySurface1012_f_0:41FBXASC093SG" every time I open the blank scene or try to import/export anything

Im using Maya 2018 btw. Id like to avoid having to make a new scene and port stuff over because it has about 150/200 individual items all with their own materials and layers and stuff already set up

Ok I fixed it, I did file>optimize scene size and checked every single option. I guess this post will be helpful for anyone in the future. But I still would like to know if there's a way to specifically delete a node if you know its exact name, like with MEL language or something

After reading your post, I went to check the Optimize Scene Size in Maya and just realized it has more options than before! (Due to a company project, we had been using Maya 2015 and 2016 for a long time...)

As for the MEL commands to execute each task, you can try to open the Script Editor, and then optimize the scene through the File menu. If a command is executed, it should appear there. You can also check History menu, Echo All Commands (in the Script Editor window) to see everything in more detail.

If you copy these commands from there and execute them, you should be able to achieve each result individually.

Hope it helps!
