 hi

I've been given an old maya file (2010) to render into 8k its in 2014 maya as on this computer mental ray isn't installed in the other version.

Once open I noticed that the shade glow and particle and lambert in the hyper shade wasn't attached to anything. Is there a way to find out what they were attributed to? on the render view it should have lights and colour but seems to be missing them, the Path says that everything is fine.

I'm fairly new to maya.

Thank you!

p.s I attached a screen shot

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

If you check the dependency graph or node editor one of them should reveal them.

Let me know if this solves your issue!

hi Sean.Heasley

Thank you!

I'm fairly new to maya in general so I'm not too sure what the dependency graph is, I've got the graph editor open and it seems to be empty, are they the same thing?

The node editor has the glowshader in it but it doesn't seem to be linked to an object in the scene.  There are a few other versions of this file I was given, that i'm looking at so I will properly find one that has everything in it, I didn't realize this before. If the problem is in the file then no need to reply but if i'm doing something wrong in maya please let me know.

Thank you again!
