High poly to Low Poly workflow, whats the easiest way to accomplish it?

Hello all,

So I am new to creating a low poly from a high poly model, I have seen various methods such duplicating the high poly, then removing all the edges manually, as well as quad draw. Both seem very time consuming, are these the only real process to creating a low poly from a high poly? Or are there better and easier alternatives to accomplish this process?

Thank you!

Every obejct is different. And therefore for each object there is a different workflow to get a fast lowpoly.

For hardsurface is the fastest way to create a proxy object (blockout) first. From this objet you create the low and the highres.

For sculpted objects its sometimes the same. You go from the (blockout) or create a new with retopo tools.

Sometimes the fastest way is to model a new low out of a box.

Not all questions have only one possible answer..

To reduce poly, would you not simply use the mesh/reduce option? Or the new retopology?

Hi!

There is no right or wrong, it depends on your needs, based on your project and personal preferences.
