Hi,
i'm using Maya 2017, & i need some pointers to have better performance in rendering/caching scenes.
(it can be extremely slow some times for simulations)
So if anyone can give me some pointers on how to tweak maya to get the max performance, that would be great!
My Specs:
OS : win 7 x64 Ultimate
FX8350 4.0 up to 5.3 Ghz
Mobo: Asus M5 A 99X Evo R2.0
32 Gb Ram 1600 Corsair Vengence LP
SSD 250 Gb OS Samsung Evo
SSD 1 Tb Games - Programs Crucial
HDD 8 Tb WD Red NAS
HDD 3 Tb WD Green
PSU : Cobra 850 W
GPU : Asus Strix GTX 970 4 Gb
Cooling : Cooler Master 212 & Custom Liquid Loop.

So ...
What i'm trying to do is this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49-ycrBQasY
Took me yesterday about 3 hours to nCach Fluid (around 10min 20 sec in the vid)
Only difference is that i got the scene a bit bigger then in the vid for import purposes in ue4.
Now i'm at step 11min 36 sec in the vid (nCache Fluids again) - 200 FPS scene & im at 10 FPS in 10 min.
But i changed a few things in maya since yesterday:
1) installed on my primary SSD (250 gb samsung evo)
2) changed rendering to viewport 2.0
3) from directX 11 changed to OpenGL Compatibility
4) From DG to Paralel
5) Ticked GPU Override
6) Gpu Settings all on AUTO
7) changed every path i could find in settings pointing to my HDD to my SSD instead.
Now Running CPU on Def 4.0 Ghz, RAM 1600, NB 2400 & HyperTransport Bus Speed on 2400.
Ratios :
CPU x20
NB x12
HT x12
RAM x4
With all these changes, i got the feeling it's even slower then yesterday except that i got a fem mins further in the tutorial i'm following and by the time i finished typing all this i maybe get like 2~3 extra cached frames from the 188 to go. 😞
Oh and it's like my CPU & GPU not even is trying to work fast, i got like almost no big loads.
Sometimes a few mins but then it drops again to around 20% CPU usage.
RAM Usage about 12 GB from my total 32 GB.
VRAM Usage about 950 Mb from my total 4 GB.
Hope this helps to solve my performance problem.
Thx.
