Copying a Finger Mesh and Linking with a Empty Rig not working

Sorry if i'm asking a stupid question but as a noob, i couldn't find an answer for 4 days 😞

Hi. I have a fully rigged fbx character imported from 3dxchange.
I'm trying to add another finger to the character, however i couldn't way to that.

*I first select the fingers by Face selection and then duplicate the finger.
*The finger appeared as a new Body1 object like in the ss, below.
*Then i tried "Mesh->Combine" to make 2 objects into 1, as the original "Body" object but the whole rig system ****ed up (when i tried to import in 3dxchange)

3dxchange causing problems probably because I changed the pivot of the object when i tried to duplicate and combine.

So how can i copy the finger and then attach to that rig (there is a empty fnger bone rig in the original object) without changing anything about the object ?

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

This is going to be a bit tough.

Generally it's not recommended to try and simply add geometry to a model that is already rigged like the one in your screenshots.

That said, the easiest way to do this would be to duplicate the finger like you have done, then Target Weld the vertices to other vertices on the existing model.

Once that is done, you would need to create joints for the finger and parent them properly with the current rig.

When you get a chance, if you can zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program, I'd be more than happy to take a look at it and create a quick video showing how I would go about doing this!

Let me know if anything changes!
