Computer built for MAYA

Hello I am looking forward to do some editorial work for my animated feature. For that I am going to assemble a PC.  Therefore I am looking for advices, tips and all info. I can find across internet on this topic. I am newby geek in these questions and seeking detailed explanations with less slang and acronyms if possible.

I am expecting to execute such task as populate and edit scenes, rough texture, light and render. cameras and animation action scenes.

I expect to open scenes with trees, mountains (to surround the scene), house (stylised), from two to three rigid and animated characters. Also a lot of detailed furnitures.. If there any thing else to add to be more specific I will happily answer those questions.

I am most curious about GPU, CPU and MOBO. For the time being my ideal set up looks like Nvidia quadro p4000 or p5000 + several intel core i7-8700k processors + MOBO with multiple slots for CPUs and GPUs and all specifications accordingly.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

This is a common question and the first and easiest recommendation is to check our certified hardware list as well as our certified system requirements.

From your initial post it seems like you have the right idea and vaguely know what you're looking for. It sounds like you'll be dabbling in a lot of varied parts of Maya so you'll want a pretty powerful system all around.

I personally have an i7 9700k, 32GB RAM and a 1080ti with 11GB of Vram. I'm an avid gamer as well so this set up works really well for myself being able to handle any modern game on the highest settings as well as some really solid performance with 3D art. My workstation however has a Quadro m5000. This card is extremely expensive and I would only recommend it if you were working with some very complex scenes. This card is specifically designed for work environments where you'll be needing it to handle extremely complex scenes without ever failing.

There's a lot more information out there especially off Google but hopefully this will help get you started!

Dabbling is an exact word to us, as I feel now. It is also very helpful to know what other people are about, so thanks for sharing and I will definitely dig into those link, hoping for the best!
