Why the heck not!

Get this rather useless error towards solving the problem: "The input text is not available in the current font. Try a different font or writing system."

Hi @Anonymous have you tried the Create Type tool? This worked for me and had wingdings typed out and converted to geometry.

Of course, That's what causes the error.

What version of Maya are you on? Im on Maya 2017 update 3 and it works as intended.

Looks like I have Update 2.

If Autodesk would provide documentation that the problem I'm encountering was fixed in Update 3 I'd attempt to update, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Hi!

I remember that some fonts didn't work with an earlier version of Maya, but with Maya 2017 update 3 they all seem to work.

I'm not sure when that changed, but it would not be the only change missing in documentation if it happened with update 3.

If you update to update 3 you should be all set. Let me know if you need anything else.

Yes, as I said, some documentation from AD that this issue was a specific problem in update 2 that was fixed in update 3.
