Camera settings to match photo

Hi everyone,

I am trying to build this scene in Maya. (see attached photo)
But to match an image (a screenshot taken from the Netflix TV series, Dark ) in Maya's camera setting, should I input in the camera body's Focal length which I am guessing its 65mm or the lens' focal length, 35mm?

Also, any other tips to match camera settings?

Thank you.

Camera Body used: Alexa 65
Lens used: 35mm ANA / SPHERICAL

*I don't own any of them, just got the information from google*

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

I like the reference art!

Generally when trying to model a scene based on an environment it's more important to have the reference lined up right and use perspective matching instead of worrying about the specific camera settings.

All of the effects that are seen by the type of camera and resolution etc. we don't worry about and we focus more on the materials and lighting to match the reference.

While the scene is different, this video gives a good breakdown on using an image and matching it to a camera.

Thank you for the reference video and advice, it is helpful. But isn't camera settings important as well? If, say, the focal length is different, won't everything, like the distance between each object or objects to the camera be messed up?

For the Alexa65 you need to enter the sensor size ,which you have in your image 54.12 X 25.59  enter this number in the Maya camera attributes that is set to mm.

Next use the prime camera lenses from the Alexa website and the camera leans used for the Netflix show if you have that info.
