Baking MASH>Distribute Node>Input Mesh to use in Unity

Hello,

I am a newbie to Maya and have been trying to figure out to export animation using MASH to Unity for 4 days.

I found a related solution on the forum (by turning mesh into instancer and baking them to objects) and the method works

yet, it was not exactly what I needed.

WHAT I WANT TO DO - Bake "input mesh" applied in distribute node for EXPLODE effect

For explosion, I followed this tutorial on YouTube

and in this tutorial, the instructor uses different mesh for the Input Mesh.

What I need to bake is the input mesh

NOT the mesh I used to create MASH network.

I will appreciate a looooot if any MAYA guru can shed a light on this problem!

Thanks in advance!

HI @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

I don't believe this is possible with the set up that's used in the tutorial.

The problem is that the MASH network itself is the cubes that are placed around the faces of the text not the text itself. So regardless if you use an fbx export or abc export it'll look for animation on the cubes themselves not the actual text.

So when you export to Unity, the model will show but there won't be any visible animation since the cubes themselves don't move.

I'll do some testing though and see if I can create a workaround for you that can be exported to Unity!
