Hi!

@Rowena

There is one main problem with your example text:

"test-please disregard", this implies that the email was intended to be sent.

I don't want to be bothered by "test-emails".

The feedback  on the current error is almost positive and I guess it would not have been so good, if customers would have received "test emails" from Autodesk.

This little extra fun shows creativity, can make someones day and brighten everyone's mood in everyday life, which is not that bad, especially nowadays.
Errors can happen every time and everywhere, but when it happens it should have the least negative impact and I think this is a wonderful example how this can be achieved.

I hear you and agree with you on the thought behind the message so no disagreements there.  But since this is the second (or more) times that this accident occurred and the result is also the channel is the one fielding the 'what's this about?' emails on an individual basis from customers who are fielding it from each of their user's; I think that the messaging; including subject line, could be improved by the Marketing team over there.  But I guess you might have to be a Harry Potter fan to get and appreciate it.

Hi!

I doubt you have to be a Harry Potter fan to appreciate this, but I agree that there is room for improvement, especially if this is not the first time that this happened.

I understand this was confirmed by Autodesk as an error on Twitter, but that doesn't help considering I got this at work and I don't use Twitter much anyways.

Autodesk also sent out an email yesterday apologizing for the error.

Well, they needed to have something in the email to let customers know the email was authorized by Autodesk and was unintentionally sent out... The plain text look makes it look like spam. It seriously seemed the Autodesk Communications account had been hacked, or they had a virus that was hijacking the account...

I'll definitely remember the Hogwarts Express departs from Platform 9 ¾..Really?

Im glad to see Autodesk sees this as humorous! After a recent hacking of our system we thought this was just hilarious too as some employees panicked thinking we were hacked again! Nice to see 😞

But you don't mind being bothered by unintentional emails that appear suspicious?

Do I need extra junk email, no. Suspicious emails are a part of life these days. My first reaction to reading this was that it was phishing or something devious, but then I notice that there were no hyperlinks and no request to send data, so I became curious and found this thread through Google. I'm glad to know others make innocent mistakes too. At least it was funny, even if I haven't seen the movies or read any of the books.
