Asking for quads while creating text

Anonymous

Hi everyone !

I created a text with the following Settings:

Poly

Quads

Count (Count to 1000)

As you can view it on the attached file, I have got faces with more than 4 edges (cleanup mesh).

Is there a way to fix that (without checking triangles) ?

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous

Did you create this via the Text tool or did you manually model the text?

A simple way to fix this would be to use the cleanup tool and have it apply to faces with more than 4 sides and hit apply. It won't be the cleanest topology but it will fix the n gon issues.

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

Hi @sean.heasley

I did it through the text tool.

We could have thought that, choosing quads, Maya would have generated quads and triangles.

For sure it can be fixed with the cleanup process.

I have another question about this object.

It is about adding a bevel.

The job is not so good.

Many things to fix and it costs time !

Many thanks for reply

It Comes from the geometry that has to be fixed before applying the bevel

Hi @Anonymous

If the clean up tool works and has a few triangles I'm not sure I see the issue. Is there a reason you can't have any triangles on the mesh?

Also, as for the bevel you just need to simply tweak the settings and values of it until you get the desired effect.

If that still doesn't work for you, you can always manually select the edges and bevel that way so you have more control.

Let me know if anything changes!

@sean.heasley

It's not an issue having a few triangles.

The bevel process doesn't not run perfectly on each edge and some have to be fixed manually.
