Maybe a stupid and simple question but does Maya patches and updates itself ? Asking this because I've encountered several bugs here and there. Thanks for adv!
No. The only tool to check for updates is the Autodesk desktop app.
I don't recommend to use auto-updates, cause it's the main reason for these type of questions:

There are 3 possible answers what caused this.
- Any auto update of anything at the system
- Software crash
- Hardware defect (happens rarely)
Do updates manually and if something does not work after this, you know the reason and don't need to waste time by troubleshooting, which can easily take some hours or multiple days.
