About instance duplicating & combining

Hi,

I have a model made of similar objects.

I made the first one and then duplicated it as parent to instances (Ctrl+Shift+D).

I get one common UV map.

When I combine everything into one model, the UV map turns darker (dark blue) because it's a stack of the various similar UV maps.

It's not an issue if I don't move the shells.

But I would like to understand why it is so.

Thanks.

Hi!

You already declared it.

If you merge them there are no more instances, but one single object with individual faces.
