is it possible to attach animated objects to particles?

So I have a character animated and I have a butterfly which is animated as well. Question is how can I have the characters body emmit the animated butterfly as particles?

Yeah, you can def do that. It will be a lot easier to do with Bifrost Graph and keep it procedural.

Here you go a quick example. 

 

I added noise in the character just to show that it can be deformable, Here is where you will add your character. I randomize the point rotation of the mesh so the "source_particle_rotations" get some initial rotation then a turbulence force to move the pts around, vary the rate so isn't constant and then I instance the wasp which in your case will be the butterflies.  

 

This is a basic setup and you could do a lot more with it
