Rigging an object for bounce animation

I'm very new to Maya, and trying to animate a shoe sole (which I've imported from Rhino --> Maya as an iges file–– see attached screenshot) bouncing on a plane. I'm wondering how would be the best way to rig the entire sole so I can animate the entirety of the object bouncing like a rubber ball. I'm wondering if there is a good way to treat individual layers/components as one unit, so different parts of the object aren't moving independently of others.

If its more than one mesh, then group all.

Select that group and go to " Deform > Non-linear> Squash "

You can control the squash under the "squash settings " in the "channel box" by manipulating the "factor".

Hope this helps.

NOTE: YOU MIGHT WANT TO ROTATE THE OBJECT TO THE DIRECTION YOU WANT IT TO SQUASH OR YOU CAN ADJUST IT IN THE SETTINGS FROM CHANNEL BOX.
