Maya rigging problems

Hi,

I am new at Maya and learning rigging at school but I am encountering some problems with the validation for the skeleton, it never validate the rig even if I move the character's arm and if i unlock the rig it gets all messed up (it stretches and moves the whole character).

Can someone help me with this issue?

You need to do paint weights to the objects. you must control the parts of the geometry.

Skin / Paint Skin Weights / Options:

Paint Operations - ADD

Turn on Geometry Color Ramp and you will see when you have painted 100% ON for the bones you DO want.

When painting. ONLY. EVER. ADD. has been my rule for my students. Set the paint weights to be ADD.  and only paint the geomerty ON. once you have the geometry painted to be ON to the joints you WANT, it will already be OFF for the ones you do not want.

you have to get the whole arm straight for validation.

so  shoulder, elbow and wrist all have to be in T pose

( i know it shows the shoulder as orange, but try it )
