Help creating a progressive walk cycle animation without infinity

hello

I am using maya 2019 and I am trying to create a progressive walk cycle animation with a norman rig and I have been able to create the static walk cycle no problem but what I need is for him to be moving a short distance before I go to the next shot where he stopped. the plan for the animation that I am trying to create is:

  • norman walking down the street greeting people as he walks maybe a handshake or two
  • then he gets to his car which he stops to admire
  • the final shot is of him walking into his house

most of the tutorials that I have seen they just put the character in a post infinity loop and leave it but don't mention what to do if you want to do anything else with the character. when I put him in a post infinity when I want him to stop he just carries on sliding in that direction.

Any help would be greatley appreciated

thank you

Hi

after loop cycle, you can bake the keys and delete from which frame (start)to which frame (end).

Afer deleting you can add your custom actions.

this is the process.
