hands in animation when the chest is moving

Hi! I'm a begginer in Atodesk Maya.

I'm doing an animation with popular Mary Rig. The chest is moving with the hands but I want them to stay on the ground when the chest is going up, when she is laying. I tried to do it frame by frame but the result is unsatisfactory. Can I somehow lock them in one position?

Hi!

What you are looking for it the IK Mode of the Arms.

Select the little control that looks like a cube above your wrist and set the Attribute "Ik fk" to 1.

Your arm will change position and you will now control similar to the legs, with a wrist control that controls the arms bend and a elbow control that controls where the elbow is pointing. Reposition your arm on the floor with those controls and the hand will stay planted on the floor.
