Can't Open File

I'm working on an animation with two referenced rigs and an imported kitchen island file, and so far I haven't had any problem with Maya until today. I can't even get to the file because it's stuck on perpetual load, and I think it might be because the file is corrupted or something--trying on a different computer (same operating systems, they're Macs) yields the exact same result, which is the loading bar on the bottom left completely empty and that insufferable rainbow loading ball going on forever. I'm extremely worried because this is a final project due next week.

This happens most when file is corrupted and/or there is a lot of (too much) history.

Usually you should delete history if not needed anymore, make incremental saves (also in different formats) and from time to time close the scene and re-open it to see if everything is all right.

How can I save the file? I couldn't delete history because I kept getting the bottom yellow bar saying "Kayla rig won't let history be erased" or something of the sort, and even though I have autosaves of the file too, I can't open those (or any maya file) either!

1. Are the files saved as .mb or.ma?

2. File sze?

3. Did you try to open the files on a PC.

Saved as ma, only work with a mac for this, and the size is like 100k

Did you guys find the answer to this? I am currently having the same issues except its with every single file that I try to open. I have tried many different rigs and tried referencing them on my scene that I opened and still nothing. I also have an assignment that is actually due tomorrow but I cant do anything cause Maya refuses to cooperate lol HELP 😞

I'm having the same problem.

The weird thing is, when I download a free rig I am able to open the file normally (when it's in the "downloads" folder). But when I place the downloaded folder in another folder appears "the file don't exist". This happens with every rig I download. I tried to unzip the file in another folder, it doesn't help
