Report addin ?

We have a company that won't give us access to their add-ins we already paid for because we simply re-installed inventor. I would like to report them to AutoDesk.

Hello.  Can you give me more information on the add in?  Where did you purchase it and who did you contact with the developer?  If you prefer not to put this in the forum, you can send me a PM or email me at chris.benner@autodesk.com

As long as you have the dll and the addin files this should work after reinstall too.

You only need to put them in the right place "the application addin" folder.

If you need further assistance please let us know.

Arthur Knoors

Thank you. The add-in was originally found and downloaded from Autodesk's add-in app store.

I don't know how Inventor specifically tells developers how to license add ins.

In this case, you download it from the store, then pay through PayPal or credit card, per each machine. If you get a new motherboard or hard drive, (even for warranty reasons) you have to buy it again.

The add-in is great but it seems shady to have to buy it over and over and over again.

If I don't hear back soon, i will email you. Thanks!

I can get the add-in going but it makes you buy it again if you have to replace or reformat a hard drive.

Sort of. I just don't know if I should report the add-in. Are they doing anything wrong by charging you over and over again?

Did you try the suggestion made by @bradeneuropeArthur about moving the dll files into the right folder?  If those are no longer available it is likely that the app developer has no way to verify your license.

Yes, I tried. The license is tied to the serial number of the hard drive. Copying the files did not work.

@kbear2AYYK I see, and the developer told you there was nothing they could do since the serial number had changed?

Correct. We'd have to buy a new license.

Hi again.  I've done some inquiry internally here, and was told that if you want to connect directly to the team at Autodesk who runs the App Store, scroll to the very bottom of the page, in the middle (very small font)... there is a Contact Us link that will allow you to directly email that team.  They should be better able to advise you on what to do next in this issue.

If you get a resolution, please circle back here to let us know how it went for you?  Good luck!
