Random switch to different program/window after closing global iLogic user form

I'm running Inventor 2017.4 on a Windows 10 machine. I have a global iLogic form that I use to control some parts. A pretty good percentage of the time (I'd say about 25-50%), when I close the form, my computer will switch to a random window that I have minimized or sitting behind Inventor.

I can't figure out a way to purposefully reproduce this. Even though it happens often, I haven't figured out a pattern of what causes it. I'm also not sure if it's a random window that's switched to, or the most recent one.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to the cause/solution?

Updated to 2017.4.6. Will post back if that stops the issue. I don't see anything in the release notes between .4 and .6 relating to forms or windows or anything, though, so I doubt it will.

Anyone else seen this issue or know the cause?

I found the same issue (Inventor 2017.4.6).

Still getting this issue in 2017.4.7.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Has anyone seen it before but stopped seeing it since updating to 2018+?

@MjDeck, can you tell me if this is a known issue?

@DRoam, there is a fix for later versions, but it hasn't been put into a 2017 update. We might be able to do that. This is issue INVGEN-23499.

You are likely to run into this if you do something on the form that causes a rule to run, and that rule shows a message box.

Wow! By pure chance I noticed a pattern to this just a couple minutes after making my above post. It seems to happen whenever a Message Box has popped up while the form was active.

To reproduce produce the issue:

  1. Open the part attached
  2. Open any non-Inventor window (like Windows Explorer) and place it over the Inventor window
  3. Switch back to Inventor
  4. In the iLogic browser, open up the "Form 1" local form
  5. Click the "Rule0" button
  6. Say OK to the message box
  7. Click "Done" in the form
  8. Your last most-recent window (the one opened in step 2) should be brought up top and activated

This is using Inventor 2017.4.7 Build 256, on a Lenovo Thinkcentre running Windows 10 Pro version 1803.

@MjDeck@johnsonshiue, can you see if you can reproduce the issue with this information?

Oops, should have checked for replies before posting that, lol.

Thanks for the info. Is it fixed in 2018, or later?

A patch for 2017 would be great.

@DRoam, I found out that we just fixed it a last month, and it's not in any released version or update yet. I'll keep you posted.
