Material Library

I am having issues with creating a material list. I am trying to add our plastic laminates and when I go to add a new material, the colors change. I am needing to add different colors to differentiate between the hundreds of plastic laminates that we use, but they are all trying to change to the same color for some reason and I can figure out why.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi,

Materials are based on Material Assets and Appearance Assets.

These need to be checked.

When you add a new Material, best practice is to also add a new Appearance asset to it.

Got it! It's working now. Are they automatically added to my new folder that I created or do I have to do something else to see them in the folder. I don't want them to go away once I have added these. I'm new to Inventor so I apologize.

Hi,

You will need them to add to the material and appearance style library.

First you need to create a read-write library (material and aprearance).

Then add these materials from your part-document to the libraries.

I doubled checked and yes, the appearance works with the material and changes color when I assign it. Thanks for your help!
