Hi,

Is the "Read-Only Mode" from Autodesk Inventor 2020, API Supported?

For example:

  • Can we use ilogic?
  • Can we use VBA?
  • Can we use VB.net (Add ins or standalone apps)?

Regards,

Regards,

The Read-Only Inventor does not support VBA/iLogic, and does not allow any other addins/executables to access it. It is just a viewer to view Inventor data. Hope this clears.

@YuhanZhang

How comes I have a 3DxInventor-AddIn running in my Read-Only-Mode-Session?

Why Vault is not installed/running with Read-Only-Mode?

I would need to open Files for Viewing through an AddIn from another DataManagement-System...

Best regards,

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

1. Do you mean you can load the 3D Connexion addin for 3D mouse to use in read-only mode Inventor? Can you share more info about which addin version you are using(or where did you get it)?

2. For the question about Vault, do you mean you want to be able to open a document from Vault using read-only Inventor with a command?

yes, you can. You have done an "exception" for 3DConnexion (no fake: I just squeezed the image vertically to keep the post readable):

Addin loaded in InvROAddin loaded in InvRO

...more or less, and the request for sure does not violate in all cases the Inventor ReadOnly philosophy.

Now there is also an idea to vote: expose an Inventor ReadOnly API. There you will see some legitimate usage of API in InvRO

@freesbee I consulted with the owner of InvRO, yes the 3D Connexion addin is in our "Include" list, so you can still use it in InvRO mode. We will consider if we can support Inventor Vault addin in InvRO.
