Customizing Inventor

I am a MDT user and have developed some custom libraries that I use on everyday basis. My library consists of all my titleblocks, and a parts library that contain things such as nutplates, dowel pins etc. I have all these stored in a pull down menu which all my users can access.

With the move to the Inventor Series, I guess we will be using Inventor more than a couple of times a month, and even the possiblity of moving from MDT to inventor. Is there a way to customize Inventor the same way I do in ACAD?? Any input would be appreciated.

TIA

Collin

You may not even need to do anything like that. With Inventors file
structure you can just add the proper directory to the project file and they
can pick it from there. It is similar I guess to adding directories to the
catalog in MDT.

To answer your question, ..... right now unless you build your program in VB
instead of VBA there is no way to add anything to a pulldown list. I
suppose you could make a list in a VBA dialog box and do something that way.

Kent,

From what your saying, I can add search path directories right? The way I have my parts library set up is basically through my pull down which then goes to image tile menus and I have the users choose which parts they want. Is the a similar way to do this in Inventor??

TIA

I guess I would have to answer that with a no, there isn't a way to do that similar in
Inventor. But when set up your paths, and add your library to it, when they click to add
a part, and then click on the library link, you could simply choose to display thumbnails
instead of the normal list.

I will post a screen shot in customer files showing what it looks like.
