Wrong quantity in BOM (parts only)

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have a problem with Bill of materials (parts only).

I use one part in many assemblies. In "parts only" section of BOM in main assembly I wish to see total quantity of this part. Instead I see the same part twice.

Structure looks like this:

-Main assembly

    -Beam A

        -Pipe (4pcs)

    -Beam B

        -Pipe (4pcs)

BOM shows the same part twice, where both have quantity 4pcs, instead of showing it only once with quantity 8pcs.

I DO NOT use LOD nor Representations.

I tried to open this project on different computer - no change.

This affects many parts - not just one.

At the top of your screen shot there is a button for "Part Number Row Merge Settings" is that turned on?

If I've helped you, please help me by supporting this idea.

I'd also check the BOM structure setting of your parts and subassemblies:

Turning "Part Number Row Merge Settings" on and off makes no difference. As I mentioned, this is the same file.

I don't use parts other than "Normal" (no phantoms, references etc.)

Is this box checked in the row merge settings?

As I said before - turning this box on and off makes no change. And of course I tried.

This option (Enable row merge on part number match) will merge together different files (different parts) with the same part number. My case is different - I have a problem with merging the same file - a part which appears in many assemblies.

hi,

are that model create from frame generator? if yes, check Part Number & G_L in custom iProperties, are same value?

Please use the ACCEPT AS SOLUTION or KUDOS button if my Idea helped you to solve the problem.

No. I don't use frame generator.

This part also don't have anything to do with Content Center.

It is impossible that iProperties have different values because it is the same file - for example it is Pipe.ipt.

This file Pipe.ipt is used in two assemblies.

Hi there Tomasz

I was wondering if you ever found a solution to this, as I have EXACTLY the same problem?

Many thanks

Stephen

No I did not.

But I've found some workaround.

Just edit this part, you have problem with. Add a chamfer, a hole or whatever that will change the mass. Then save it.

Later you can remove what you just added.

In my case it helped, but still I don't know why this problem occured.

Hello again

I did as you suggested and modified the part (tried in several different ways), but unfortunately this doesn't help in my case.

Thanks anyway

Stephen
