Vault Versions Slowing Drawing Open

Some drawings (.dwg) that I open in Inventor take anywhere from 10-60+ seconds or so when opening. The drawing will open and be visible - and for like a split second my cursor will be able to highlight something on the drawing - and then the loading cursor comes up and spins for ages. I believe what is happening is that after it opens the drawing - it then loads all the vault versions. I confirmed this by unloading the vault add-in and opening the same drawing - it opens instantly. 

Is there anyway to fix this? I still need to use vault - but I don't need it to load all the old versions of the drawing on open.

what happens if you use another view for example "Where Used" is it than quicker?

I don't understand what you mean, can you clarify?

Hi Arthur, unfortunately the "where used" and "uses" tabs are only visible after the drawing has loaded. The slowness is while the drawing opens.
