not sure if this is possible... i have to collection sets (both of which are solids)

i can already make 2 seperate multi selections and select all for processing. (select all parts, click button, select all components).
I would need to highlight the parts GREEN and the components BLUE. is it possible to do this and keep them highlighted in separate colours until i have processed them? i tried a highlight set which sort of works. they flash the colour and then de-select.
so in essence, while i am selecting the components, the parts remain showing as green selected objects
