Return a piont in IDW

I am looking for a little guidance in trying to return a point in an idw. I
want to select a point somewhere on the sheet for placement of a sketched
symbol and then return that point back to my program. If someone could give
me a little bit of code or a direction where to look in the help it would be
greatly appreciate it. I have looked in the interaction events but still
can't get it to work correctly for me.
