Can an assemble be converted into a part?

Hi, When I export one assemble to 3ds max, some feature of a part in the assemble emerged in 3ds max, while the feature was cut in the assemble. It seems that some features of a part in assemble were cut but while the assemble export into 3dsmax the features of that part appear, and I don’t know why. Can some one give me some advice?
When I export a part to 3ds max, the model in 3ds max is similar with the one in Inventor in exterior. So if I can export one assemble to a part, maybe the above problem will be solved, am I right?

You can derive an assembly into a part document to create a part from an
assembly. To do this open a new part, run the "Dervied Component" command,
choose the assembly file, and derive it in. Of course the result is a
single rigid part so you won't be able to move individual parts.
