need help with iLogic rule parameter values then changed by User input

maybe i cannot see the forest thru the trees here, so i hope i can get some help

please see the attached image

i have a rule that sets the overall hight (iLogic Rule Value) as shown in the image. but what i would like to do is set the values (default) of the parameters using iLogic values but if the user wants to customizes the values, then iLogic will accept the user values. i know i'm missing something here

btw... really new to iLogic

Hi,

What should trigger the rule in the first place? Is it triggered by some parameter change?

What if it was just a simple rule not triggered by anything that the user could call to set the values to a default value - and so if later on they want to change something the rule won't interefer?

i'm really new to ilogic but with the iLogic courseware book, Mastering Inventor book, Google and this newsgroup, i have been ableto create a few rules

so, maybe my question is confusing but i'll try to explain what i'm trying to do

i have an iLogic rule that, based on user input/selections, my overall height is determined and the plate thickness and length is set (as a general default). but what i would like to know, if it is possible to be able to give the user the option to customize/change/tweek the values of those same parameters? i have setup multivalue lists also for the user to select as well.

am i trying to do too much?

i'm not sure if this is the correct path i should take with my iLogic rule, but it does seem to work right now. i will do some more testing to see
