iLogic copy componentes from master assembly to new assembly without affecting master

Hello everyone, I've been reading some threads related to this topic. But I still don't get it. My goal is from a "master" assembly which I made to be modified with rules create a certain configuration trough a form a then export the new configuration as a new assembly with its own components.

These are the threads that I read but ist just performe to top-level of the master assembly and what I need is to save from the top to all subassemblies:

Save Assembly to new location and delete parts

Copy components and assembly

I have this assembly of a conveyor, which I made using iLogic components to modified for length and belt width that I need, the problem is that around 25 different configurations are needed, so I'm looking to export a configuration with its new parts.

The workflow it's the next one:

  • Open the conveyor configurator, set the parameteres that I need, e.g. length and width and then export as a new assembly with its own components

  • This could be another configuration

What I'm looking is basically "clone" everything involved in the assembly.

Thanks in advance, regards

Hi @1830108CDDDF.  I think you may need to include a lot more details about your specific goals here.  Because there are tons of questions on this forum about copying assemblies, but there are many potential differences.  Maybe use a bulleted list of all the things you want the code to accomplish, in as much detail as possible.  Maybe also include screen captured images of before & after, if that might help explain.  It broad terms, the best way to copy a configuration type assembly without it effecting the original, is to make the assembly a 'Template' assembly, then use the 'New' button to create a new variation of it from that template, then use SaveAs to save that new variation.

Hi @WCrihfield thanks for the advice, there is already some extra information for what I need. I'll try that template method, thanks.
