Ilogic Code disappearing when ipt file is saved

My ilogic code is not being saved when my document is saved.

As soon as I save, the ilogic code in the current document disappears.

When I open the saved document the code is not with the document.

It's the same for any forms created within the document.

Can anyone help?

Can you check that your rule was not created as external rule (in this case it is saved not in the document but in the external file).  iLogic forms also could be external.

If the rule is internal then do you mean that your iLogic rule cannot be saved in any IPT document or this problem is file specific?

Have you tested the simplest single line rule like

MsgBox(“I’m running”)

?

If you still are experiencing this problem please

1) upload a video recording.  You may use Autodesk Screencast.

2) upload your IPT file and the text of the iLogic rule

Thanks,

Hi Vladimir,

The rule is not an external rule.

I hope I've managed a screencast and a copy of the files are in the attached rar file.

Not so long a go my had disk failed and I had to restore the software with assistance, from the help desk and I don't know if this has contributed to my problems.

However the install went OK, the problems were with the license but I don't recall using iLogic since that time until this week.

I appreciate the help, it's most frustrating when the rules disappear.

Thanks

Valdimir,

I've now tried to create ilogic rules in other ipt files and it appears that iLogic rules cannot be saved in any IPT document.

They disappear as soon as I save the file . . .

Several times I was able to get the error message “Cannot find a rule with the name: “Call Form”. In all cases it was the CHS tube part New.ipt file with all the geometry suppressed.

If I save and re-open this document rules appear in the iLogic browser and work properly.

But I did not find a reliable way to reproduce this error.

Do you use Update/Rebuild before save?
Any correlation with geometry suppression?
Have you experienced this problem with parts without starting forms?

Could you please provide:

1) the detailed information on the Inventor version you use.
    My version is: Build 210, Release: 2016 SP1 – Date: Tue 10/13/2015

2) the step-by-step description of your workflow that would help me to reproduce this effect

3) screencast could help as well

Any details could help.

thanks

The suppressed features are possible cuts that are required on the tube part which are unsuppresed as required.

I update before saving but only if the update is shown to be required.

If I create a form but don't create a rule to call it when i save the part the form disappears.

The attached .png file shows my product info (screen capture)

My work flow is:

a) Create a base feature and specify the parameters I want to be able to change.

b) Create a form.

c) Create a rule.

d) Save the file.

I have attached a screencreen cast. I didn't know if the disappearing rules and forms happened with all parts so I tried with a part from 'scratch' and the rule and form both disappear on save. They are not available when I open the saved file.

The only thing I have not done in the screen cast is create an event trigger which would usually be on the opening of the document.  Which, I guess is why I did not receive the call form error message when opening the saved part.

Your help is appreciated, the last thing I want to do is to re-install the software . . .

Thanks

You do not need to re-install the software but it makes sense to upgrade your Inventor 2016 at least to SP1.

(or R2 jr R3 if you are on subscription).

Where is the link to your screencast ?

thanks

Thanks

I have completed exactly the same steps you recorded and get the sheet metal file with iLogic rule and form that both work as expected.  I will discuss this with my colleagues internally and be back as soon as get some response.
thank you for patience

My colleague from engineer team and me have tested your workflow internally and both were not able to reproduce the described problem.

As you are using PDS Ultimate do you know which Inventor add-ins are normally loaded?  Could you provide a list of Inventor add-ins installed on your system and activated during the Inventor session?

And please post once again the screen with the product information.

Thank you for the screenshots.

Meanwile please install the Inventor 2016 SP1.  It is free.

Your current build is 138.  With SP1 you will have the build 210:

http://download.autodesk.com/us/support/files/inventor_2016_service_pack_1/Inventor2016_SP1_enu.htm

SP1 is available here.

Let me know please if SP1 helps.

BTW if you are on subscription R2 and R3 releases are available as well:

cheers

Hi Vladimir,

I cannot install SP1.

I have previously installed INV20010_X64.exe along with INV20020.msp.

I can install R2 but not R3 . . .

Am I heading for a new install?

Accepted solution

I think you missed that Inventor SP1 includes Update 1 and Update 2.

You should be able to install SP1 above Update 2.

The SP1(Build 210) installs on Autodesk Inventor 2016 (Build 138).

See the screenshot:

Could you try to install SP1?

Hi Vladimir,

I re-installed inventor and was then able to install SP1. That did the trick, my build is now at 210 and my ilogic files are available.

Thanks
