How to share a program made in Visual Studio?

Hello,

How can I share my program made in Visual Studio in VB/C# with other people? The program creates a new button on the ribbon. When the button is pressed, the code is executed. I tried to create an installer, but after installing, I have no program to run, and no button is created in Inventor. Only .dll files have been created.

I would like to send an installer or file to copy, without having to install Visual Studio

Hi,

You can

-build the project to a new folder (you should change the build location in project settings)

-zip it manually //optional

-share/copy it to another user to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor 2021\Addins folder while inventor closed

-start inventor and load the add-in in add-in manager

Or %AppData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins

Need the .dll and .addin file.

What does it mean "program"? Is it an add-in or external application?

If it is an Inventor add-in, you need to ensure to copy its files to appropriate location described in documentation. You can use some tool for building MSI installer package (Inno setup, WiX Toolset, etc.)

If it is an EXE application, just copy the application files to target workstation. Or you can also use MSI package.
