How can I link a BOM in Excel to a drawing in Autodesk Inventor?

Hi everyone,

I would like to create a Bill of Materials (BOM) in Excel that automatically updates the entire project .ipt .iam in Inventor whenever I make changes in Excel.

That would mostly be the quantity i want to change.

Is it possible to set up a dynamic link between Excel and Inventor’s parts list to avoid manual updates? I’ve heard that it might be achievable using iLogic, but I’m not sure how to get started.

Can someone explain how this can be done or point me toward a good guide?

Thanks in advance for your help!

you can link the Excel file via: Manage>> Insert Object>> Create Link>

I have done this in the past via coding indeed.
Please let me know if this is what you need.

Hi Arthur.

Thanks for your respond.

This could be a way to go, but unfortunately i know zero about this topic.

I can link a spreadsheet as you describe, but then i dont know what else to do.

Would you be kind to take an ekstra dive into how it could be solved.

I would really appreciate it - thanks!

Regards,

Lars

I would recommend linking the excel file to your Parameters. This will allow you to use the custom values in your sketch dimensions.
